OK, Andrea has lent me her computer and I can post. We are having a ball! We've had two days of sightseeing, bus driver can turn the bus around in a tiny spot (we have a full size touring bus for 10 people!) and our guide is just great!
Yesterday, we saw Shepherd's field and Bethlehem, the Wailing Wall (very solemn and moving to touch this place of prayer that has been here since the Temple was first built!) King David's tomb, the Upper Room, and much more.
Today, we went to Masada, floated in the Dead Sea, saw the Sycamore Tree, saw Qumara where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, Jericho (fabulous fruit, but you know that the wall fell down). BTW, Kate rode a camel today (ok, we did too, but Kate jumped on that camel and was the first one to ride it!)
The hotel is ok and we eat breakfast and dinner every night. We tried a new fruit today. Every day there are dates and olives and so many foods to try. Choices of fish, beef, lamb, chicken every night. We are not hungry.
Praying for all of you as we visit these Holy places. See you soon.
Sounds great -- just remember not to sell Kate in exchange for any camels. They're hard to bring back to the US.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having a good time!
ReplyDeleteDid you retrieve Leo from the Dead Sea? He'll prune up if he stays in too long.
Let Kate know that the US Army did bring camels into the states as an experiment during the cavalry days, so she could get one back here if she wanted.
On a more serious note, Sue's Uncle Ray passed away today (he had been sick for a long time). If you guys could think of him for a moment while you are visiting all the biblical places, I'm sure it would mean a lot to Sue's family and Ray's wife, Joan.
Keep posting !
WOW !!! A camel ride !!! Love it :) Not a fan of olives, are they salty ??? Glad to hear all so far ! ENJOY :) Maureen
