Back to Israel

We are back in Israel. The ruins in Jerash were wonderful. Our guide told us that some Italians come to Jerash to see good Roman Ruins (and no, Joe, we are not the Roamin'Ruins! We are holding up nicely!)

Our crossing back to Israel was stressful, but we were glad to see our favorite guide and driver (Andrea was not at all happy with our driver in Jordan!)

Our hotel is wonderful and the best of the four that we have been in. I can stand up and walk to the window and see the Sea of Gallilee (ok, it is really a Lake but is called the Sea of Gallilee) We took a boat ride today for 45 minutes. It is beautiful and peaceful here and so different from Jerusalem. We saw the Mount of the Beatitudes and I was in tears, so amazed that I could stand in the spot where Jesus gave this wonderful sermon. We went to the Church of Peter's Primacy and that Church has preserved the stone where Jesus cooked breakfast for the apostles. We were standing in this church, when another group just started to sing in perfect harmony. It was so beautiful, a perfect prayer. I don't know what language they were singing in, or what they were singing, but none of us could move until they were done. Spectacular!

We saw Capernaum, home of Our Lord during His ministry. This is where He cured Peter's mother-in-law. The remains of the synagogue are still there, as are many homes. This is one of the three places that Jesus cursed, because they did not believe in Him. We saw Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fishes.

Best of all, no call to prayer for the Muslims at 4:30 and 5:30 in the morning!

Melissa and Stephanie told us today, that they feel that we have had three separate vacations while here (Jerusalem, Jordan, Tiberias) and we all agreed with them. Each place had its own special charm and Tiberias is a great place to be toward the end of our trip. Missing you! Love from all of the travelers!
